Editing can make or break your book from going viral.
Here at RisenWorks Publishing, we have seasoned editing pros that have edited hundreds, if not thousands of publications over our combined careers.
Let's face it, after you have spent countless hours going over and over your manuscript, everything starts to look the same. And what we see all the time is this: you know what you meant to write, and when you've reached that 'I'm done' phase of a project, it is so easy to miss things.
An editor is going to pickup errors that most authors won't - and this is not a negative, it's just a way of life!
Our editors are familiar with the Chicago Manual of Style and a few other in-house publishing style sheets. If you have specific requests, please just communicate that at the onset of our engagement, we can work with you!
One area of specialty that we offer our authors is Developmental Editing.
What is this? Glad you asked.
Sometimes in an authors excitement to convey their passion over the subject matter, they release all the knowledge they have onto the pages of their new book.
But their order and arrangement is not cohesive and a reader who is not as knowledgable will not be able to follow it.
This is where a developmental editor comes in.
They will create a natural order and flow for the thoughts to unfurl on the page so that each concept builds upon the previous, culminating in a grand crescendo of understanding and proof of concept.
Rebecca has been a nonfiction editor since March 2021, but she has been moving toward this goal since she could read and write, recognizing in the Lord's timing how He has long been establishing her steps. From the first crafting of words in stories about a mischievous bunny, to pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Cultural Criticism, the immersive power of words has always been a passion.
When she decided at twenty-two to move from her native country of Great Britain to South Carolina, Rebecca realized the unique perspective she had gained on the cultural investment we make with our word choices. We show parts of ourselves to others when we speak and write; we take the deposit of our cumulative learning and experiences and invest them into our readers in a way that we hope resonates with them. She loves to partner with writers to create a manuscript that exhibits their voice and their passion to their intended audience.
In the time that she spends away from her laptop, Rebecca enjoy being outdoors with her husband and three children, exploring and encountering nature in any way she can. She loves reading in a wide variety of genres, but she is a total scaredy cat when it comes to thrillers! She has been known to knit, cross-stitch, and crochet. Friends and community are also hugely important to her, including the worldwide community. Her family loves to travel and support those who are making an impact in the world.
Amber is an accomplished editor, with MANY credits to her name. Her bio is forthcoming and will be posted asap! But until then you can trust me, (she edited all of my own work for 2 years) she's fantastic! What I love most about Amber is she keeps me grammatically correct while still allowing me to maintain my point of view and voice. Now that's skill!
RisenWorks Publishing exists for the sole purpose of giving voice to those authors who strive to
go deeper in their walk with the Lord Jesus Christ, and who by reason of use, have sharpened
their discernment and know not only the acts of the Lord, but also His ways. His message burns
in their minds and hearts, and they simply cannot stay quiet about it. Other more mainstream
publishers might shy away from such cutting-edge savants, who claim experiential knowledge of
Jesus Himself, but at RisenWorks Publishing, these are the very authors we are seeking. We
know that the world is at an apex moment in time, and we are moving from the Church Age into
the Kingdom Age. The members of the church at large are going to need guidance, leadership
and encouragement from those who have gone before them to prepare the way of the Lord into
the establishment of the Kingdom of God on earth, as it is in Heaven.
Yes, we are always on the lookout for fresh new and experienced voices that create compelling
content. While we are mainly focused on content that will educate the members of the church on
how to switch from a church mindset into a kingdom mindset, general Christian content will be
evaluated as to its relevancy to helping the reader go fall more in love with Jesus. If that box is
checked, we are very happy to team up and publish this work! Authors can submit their
manuscripts through our website where our editorial team reviews them.
At RisenWorks, we understand that every book is unique, and timelines can vary based on the manuscript’s stage and the services needed.
